MC Community Care

Our Mission

MC Community Care is a community-based nonprofit organization dedicated to uplifting underserved families and children through hands-on outreach, seasonal events, and essential resources. Rooted in compassion and driven by purpose, the mission of MC Community Care is to create opportunities for connection, support, and long-lasting impact across Central Florida. Each year, the charity organizes three major community events designed to meet real needs and bring people together: the MC Community Care Back 2 School Backpack Giveaway, the MC Community Care Thanksgiving Food Giveaway, and the MC Community Care Christmas Toy Giveaway.

Our story began in 2017, when MC Community Care was founded after recognizing the needs within our community. We saw many young people with great potential but limited access to resources, and we viewed it as an opportunity to give back. The initiative was started by Halah Abed and her son, Hady Abed, as a dream to bring hope to families facing hardship. For Halah, who grew up in an immigrant household with very little and often relied on neighbors and community support, this mission was deeply personal.

What began as a simple effort with a single six-foot table with toys and just 20 children attending, quickly revealed a much larger vision. Halah and Hady saw the possibility of creating meaningful change by helping those who needed it most. They remained committed to that dream, organizing events such as Back-to-School Giveaways and Turkey Giveaways for Thanksgiving to support families throughout the year.

Over time, more people joined the mission, volunteers who believed in the impact of the work being done. What started with only a few helping hands grew into a strong community of 85 to 100 dedicated volunteers, all united by a shared passion for serving and uplifting the community.

Each event grew bigger and better, each year we would have more people showing up and supporting our mission for the community. It became not only about giving much needed items away, it was also about causing an impact on our community, letting them know that they are not alone. This is why we saw an initiative to help people turn their lives around, we started having military recruiters, mental health associations, insurance help, city and county leaders  and more resources
