Food Resources Programs in Orlando

MC Community Care is a nonprofit organization dedicated to uplifting families in the Orlando area through meaningful community outreach and essential support services. Over the years, MC Community Care has worked hand-in-hand with local partners, volunteers, and businesses to ensure families have access to the resources they need during challenging times.

Food insecurity can affect anyone—working parents, seniors, veterans, and children. Even temporary financial challenges can make it difficult to keep food on the table. Knowing what resources are available and how to access them can make a meaningful difference during these times.

Local Food Banks & Pantries

These organizations help families find food through pantry programs, emergency boxes, grocery programs, and food distribution partnerships.

Key Resources in Orlando & Central Florida:

  • Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida – A central hub for food assistance. Offers SNAP guidance, a pantry locator tool, and connects families with partner food pantries across multiple counties.

  • Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida – Mercy Kitchen – Additional Second Harvest facility supporting food distribution and community programs.

  • United Against Poverty – Offers affordable grocery programs, crisis support, and referrals to food resources.

  • Human Crisis Center Inc – Community food bank offering support and referrals to other essential services.

  • Servant’s Heart Ministry – Local food assistance ministry serving families with pantry support.

  • Haven Of Hope Food Pantry – Community pantry providing food support in the west Orlando area.

  • Seeds Of Paradise Food Pantry – Neighborhood food pantry offering regular food distributions.

  • The Sharing Center (Longwood) – Food pantry and supportive services for Seminole County families.

Church & Community Meal Programs

In addition to food banks, many churches and community organizations host regular food distributions and meal support:

  • St. John Baptist Church – Monthly food distribution (call to confirm schedule).

  • New Covenant Church of Jesus Christ – Monthly pantry distribution (appointments encouraged).

  • Access Connection – Regular food pantry hours on select Wednesdays.

  • Solid Rock United Methodist Church – Monthly food distributions.

  • Islamic Circle of North America (ICNA) – Weekend food distributions in Orlando and Ocoee.

  • Good Samaritan Outreach – Monthly food support events.

  • Many local churches like Attitude Baptist Church, South Orlando SDA, Riverside Baptist, Ward Chapel A.M.E., and more offer recurring food pickup opportunities.

SNAP & Government Nutrition Programs

In addition to local pantries, families can explore government-supported nutrition assistance:

  • SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program): A federal program that helps families buy groceries. Visit the Florida Department of Children and Families website or call local DCF offices for eligibility and enrollment.

  • WIC (Women, Infants & Children): Provides nutrition support for pregnant people, infants, and young children. Call the statewide WIC hotline at 1-800-342-3556 to find the nearest office.

Additional Support Tools

  • 211 Community Resource Hotline: Dial 2-1-1 from any phone to be connected with local food pantries, emergency assistance programs, and eligibility help.

  • Second Harvest Pantry Locator: Use the online tool at Second Harvest to find the closest food pantry by zip code

Tips for Using These Resources

  • Call ahead: Many pantries and programs require appointments or have limited hours.

  • Bring ID and proof of residence: Some services ask for basic information for registration.

  • Ask about delivery or emergency support: Some organizations help with delivery or case-by-case assistance if travel is difficult.
